One of our environmentally friendly packaging suppliers is GCA. Aegg is the only supplier in the UK and Ireland with access to GCA’s world-renowned products, including glass jars and bottles. So naturally, we are always interested in all their environmental initiatives.
When we heard about GCA’s ‘Recycling Detectives’ educational project, to be delivered within primary schools in Türkiye, we had to share it with you! We agree with GCA that instilling environmental awareness in children from an early age will be the key to unlocking a more sustainable future for everyone.
Alongside the ÇEVKO Foundation (Türkiye’s leading recycling and waste organisation, Environmental Protection and Evaluation of Packaging Waste Association in short), GCA is delivering a series of fun yet informative talks to children from years 3 to 6 about the importance of protecting the environment and recycling. The pilot project started in Kütahya Ağaçköy Primary School and will be rolled out to more primary classes in Türkiye in 2024.
Face-to-face training is provided, raising awareness to the children about the environment and packaging waste. The project’s goals are to educate students on raw materials used in glass production, as well as recyclable waste, and how these can contribute to leaving a sustainable future for generations to come. Recycling booklets and branded glass mugs are also given to the students, as gifts.
