Aegg has strengthened its commitment to sustainability by working with
SmartCarbon to build a clear, data-driven route towards carbon reduction and a Net Zero commitment.
After Aegg’s entire senior team completed the IEMA certified CPD Carbon Accounting course (delivered by Northumbria University), sustainability
became a shared corporate responsibility rather than the remit of a single lead.
Aegg then worked with SmartCarbon to measure its full Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in line with the GHG (Greenhouse Gas) Protocol, collaborating closely with global manufacturing partners to gather high quality supply chain data. This rigorous approach has enabled Aegg to quantify 99% of emissions from purchased goods using product level footprints rather than spend data, giving Aegg a far clearer understanding of where meaningful reductions can be made.
Alongside this reporting work, SmartCarbon supported Aegg in developing a tailored Net Zero plan, modelling future scenarios and identifying the strategic decisions required to meet longterm sustainability goals. Aegg has since achieved SBTi validation for its shortterm carbon reduction targets and continues to progress through the SmartCarbon awards framework.
Reflecting on the work, Aegg Sustainability Lead Isobel Candy says, “The team at SmartCarbon have been extremely supportive. They are willing to educate us as well as work with us… They’ve always been there to hold our hand through the process without making us feel like we’re asking stupid questions. That customer service is invaluable to us.”
